Are they a thing? I fancy the idea of Chevelles, Impalas, and C2s driving around everywhere to steal. Like the Mafia or Godfather series, but a decade or two later. Preferably post-2007-ish for better graphics, and required walking around, not just driving.

There’s on coming out in the fall that I know of, but it’s set in northern Quebec in the seventies, so you only get a truck in the woods. Also, it’s a mystery/horror/survival game with Wendigos.

You know, maybe it’s not what you’re asking for. My bad.

Closest I can think of are the first three Driver games, although Driver 1 is the only decent one.

Need For Speed Motor City Online. It’s not functional anymore but it’s pretty much that.

This is a good one. There’s no walking around, but the game has a pretty good system for letting you switch cars

The best part is there’s even a burnout button.

It’s not 60s/70s, but L.A. Noire’s free roaming post-WWII LA is pretty great for experiencing some virtual historic metal. It’s a Rockstar game, so think GTA, mechanics-wise. Physics aren’t great, and it’s definitely better with a controller, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
